This pocket mirror carries the illustration of a life drawing figure.
For an artist, life drawing can be central to learning about the human body. Observing how we each sit, stand and move due to an extraordinary collaboration between many parts of our body…the skeletal frame, musculature, veins… Portraying life and movement in a figure captures a key essence of who we are; Leonardo da Vinci studied bodies by night and Francis Bacon was found to have anatomical, medical texts in his studio after his death, as he too sought to appreciate the human frame and the life within.
This image was created by the artist Weimin He, an artist and printmaker who lives and works, and teaches, in Oxford.
The mirror measures 7.5cms in diameter
